After an unsuccessful search for a quality DVI to RCA cable I found this S-video to RCA at Amazon.com. But, because I only wanted to watch Netflix movies on my television, this cable works out wonderfully. I chose this cable because of the reviews it had received from previous consumers. It displays video very nicely on a SD CRT television but as the reviews stated, working or surfing the web from your computer over your television is too blurry with this cable. It is very easy to connect and its 12 foot length is a nice convenience. I would recommend this cable to anyone interested in the same type of application as mine but not to someone who wants to work on their computer or surf the internet on their TV.
Great purchase video and sound work great from computer to tv & stereo. Only, small glich was seller described cable as black and it was gray. I really didn't have a problem w/ this as I'm going to save about $125.00 a month on cable television bills. I'm really happy about this product.
The quality of the cable is fine, however after hooking it up (computer to TV)The TV monitor is not clear, and it is nearly impossible to read anything on the screen. all the words are blurry. So I have not been able to use my TV as a monitor like I had hoped.
But it still will only show on two outputs, not both DVI and TV all at once.My Acer Laptop was easier to figure out, but again, there was a driver update. Download and install the new drivers." Without doing that, the system would only show computer monitors, not the S-video hook-up.
The rest of this is not specific to this cable, but how I used it:I had difficulty trying to figure out how to configure the video card on my Dell Studio's GE Force 9800 GT. This cable works good, is long enough to provide plenty of flexible needs.
Click on Drivers. The answer was, "Google the card name.
Go to the NVidia site. After the upgrade, it showed TV options, too.
And once the laptop port and the TV source were plugged up to one another with this cable, the options to extend or duplicate the outgoing image from the S-Video port became available.
these are good sturdy thick cables. Got them fast, and the picture is great. Sound is better on new tvs. Overall a great value for a great product.
